Tic Tac and Betting Slang



At the racecourse bookmakers use a series of hand signals to tell each other odds and they also use betting slang called Tic-Tac to describe specific odds. If you hear any of the following this is what they mean.

Evens = Levels
2/1 = Bottle
3/1 = Carpet
4/1 = Rouf
5/1 = Hand
6/1 = Exes
7/1 = Nevs
8/1 = T.H
9/1 = Enin
10/1 = Cockle / Net
11/1 = Elef
12/1 = Net and Bice
14/1 = Net and Rouf
16/1 = Net and Ex
20/1 = Double Net
33/1 = Double Carpet
5/2 = Face
9/2 = Shoulders
5/4 = Wrist
6/4 = Ear'ole
9/4 = Top of Head
11/4 = Elef a vier
11/8 = Up the Arm
15/8 = Double Tops
11/10 = Tips
100/30 = Burlington Bertie
