Free odds with a don't pass bet

Don't Pass Free Odds

To make a free odds bet with a don't pass bet you have to wait until a point has been established before you can make the bet. To make the bet you place your chips on top of your don't pass bet slightly off centre. The dealer will automatically know this is a free odds bet.

When placing a free odds bet in addition to a don't pass bet you are said to "lay" odds rather than "take" them. This can make the amount you have to bet quite complicated ask the dealer if you are unsure of how much to bet.

If a 4 or 10 is rolled the correct odds are 1/2 that a seven will be rolled before this number so to "lay" odds you have to bet twice your original bet for a single free odds bet or four times your bet for a double free odds bet. So if your free odds bet wins at odds of 1/2 you will paid out half the amount you bet.

Lets say as an example the point number is 4. Your original don't pass bet is £10 and you have bet £40 as a double free odds bet.

1. If the shooter throws a 7 you have won the bet and you will be paid out at evens for the don't pass bet (£10 winnings) and your double free odds bet will be paid at 1/2 (£20). The payout for numbers 4 and 10 is 1/2 for a 5 or 9 it's 2/3 and for a 6 or 8 it's 5/6. Ask the dealer if you are unsure how much to bet as your free odds bet.

2. If the shooter throws a 4 you have lost the bet and the dealer will take your don't pass bet and your free odds bet.

3. If the shooter throws a 2,3,5,6,8,9,10,11,12 you have neither won nor lost.
