Free Odds Bet

The free odds bets are not marked out anywhere on the table but they are the most important bets for you to learn as you will find out in the odds section.

When you make free odds they are bet in conjunction with other bets. The bets they are made in conjunction with are the pass line bet, don't pass line bet, come bet and don't come bet.

The amount you can bet as a free odds bet depends on the casino you are playing at. Some casinos allow you to bet the same as your original bet, some double and some up to 10 times the original bet. This bet is in addition to the bet you have already made but this bet is paid out at the correct odds of that particular throw occurring. Which means the casino has no advantage on this bet.

Free odds with pass line bet

Free Odds Pass-Line

To make a free odds bet with a pass line bet you have to wait until a point has been established before you can make the bet. To make the bet you place your chips behind the bet you have already placed on the pass line. If you have made a £10 pass line bet and the casino allows you to make double free odds bets you would then place £20 in chips behind your pass line bet. The dealer will automatically know this is a free odds bet.

If for example you have made a £10 pass line bet and a £20 free odds bet and point number was 9 then there are 3 possible outcomes to this bet.

1. If the shooter throws a seven on his next throw you will lose the bet. So the dealer will take your pass line bet and your free odds bet as well.

2. If the shooter throws a nine on his next throw you will win the bet. So the dealer will pay out your pass line bet at evens (£10 winnings) as normal but also he will pay out your free odds bet which in this instance is paid out at 3/2 (£30 winnings). The payout odds if the point number is 4 or 10 is 2/1 if it is 5 or 9 the payout odds are 3/2 and the point is 6 or 8 the payout is 6/5.

3. If the shooter throws a 2,3,4,5,6,8,10,11,12 you neither win nor lose and your bet remains where it is.
