Craps Table

The craps table is long and rectangular with high sides all around it. It is about the length and width of a small car. The table is covered in green or blue felt and printed on it is the betting layout. The inside of the high sides is covered in a spongy material in order to deaden the bounce of the dice when they hit them. On the top of the sides are the rails and this is where you store your casino chips ready to bet. Unlike most games at the casino you usually play it standing up. There is usually enough room for about twelve players at a time.

Betting Layout

The table has quite a lot of different things printed on it and can be a bit overwhelming when you first see it.

As you can see the betting layout is almost symmetrical. The reason for this is that each dealer looks after one half of the table and the bets on the left side are identical to the right side. Full details of each bet is in the craps betting section of the website.

The section in the centre is for the proposition bets. These bets are placed by the stickman and you must tell the dealer you want to make one of these bets and they will pass the chips to the stickman who will place your bet for you.

The bets in this section are the hardway bets which are when the dice falls on 2,2 - 3,3 - 4,4 - 5,5 and the one roll bets which are betting that the dice will land on a total of 7 i.e. 3,4. The horn bets are when they land on 2,3,11 or 12 and any craps when they land on 2,3 or 12.

All the rest of the bets you place yourself except the place bets. Starting from the bottom of the outside section you have the pass-line bet around the outside and the don't pass line bar these are opposite bets that are explained in the betting section.

Next you have the big 6 and big 8 this is for betting the dice will land on 6 or 8 before a 7 is thrown. Above this you have the field bets which is betting on whether any 2,3,4,9,10,11 or 12 is thrown. Next up you have the come box where come bets are placed and above this is the don't come bar where don't come bets are placed this is the opposite bet to the come bet.

Then at the top are the place bets these bets will be placed for you by the dealer, here you bet on either 4,5,6,8,9 or 10 being thrown.
