Craps Personnel

Each craps table is usually staffed by four people at a time and they have different jobs to do at the table. They may change jobs at anytime but there will usually be three at table all the time.

Craps Table Personnel

The Stickman

The Stickman as you would expect uses a stick and it is his job to collect up the dice after they have been thrown. He will have a tray of about eight dice in front of him and he will give two of them to whoever is throwing the dice. It is the stickman's job to shout out what number has been rolled by the shooter (The player who throws the dice.) The stickman is also responsible for placing proposition bets at the table.

The Dealers

Along with the stickman there will usually be two other dealers who control all other aspects of the game and they will be situated at either end of the table and they are responsible for taking and paying out bets of all the players. One will control one half of the table and one will control the other.

The Boxman

The last member of staff is called the Boxman and he is situated opposite the stickman in between the dealers. The Boxman's job is to make sure everything at the table is running correctly and nobody is cheating. His decision on any disputes is usually final. He also keep's hold of the casinos money. If the casino is winning a lot from the players they will take the overflow of chips from the table. If the players are winning a lot the Boxman will give the dealers more chips to payout. The boxman is also responsible for banking an checking cash that a player has given a dealer to change for chips.
