Craps Odds

Learning which bets to make when playing craps is essential if you want to be a winner as the casinos advantage on different bets varies enormously. The odds of a certain throw occurring are fairly easy to work out as there are only 36 different outcomes possible when throwing 2 dice. The outcomes are:

Number Different Ways Odds
2 35/1
3 17/1
4 11/1
5 8/1
6 31/5
7 5/1
8 31/5
9 8/1
10 11/1
11 17/1
12 35/1

These are the true odds of any number being thrown. It is then possible to work out how much advantage the casino has on each bet. Let's take for example an any seven bet. The true odds of any seven occurring is 5/1 which is the same as 1 time in every 6 throws. The casino pays out on this bet at 5 chips for every 1 chip bet so you actually only win 4 chips for every on bet because one of the 5 chips they give you back will be your original bet. This equates to odds of 4/1, but the true odds are 5/1. This difference gives the casino an advantage of a massive 16.7%. So you can see the any seven bet is not a very good bet to make.

Here's a list of the casinos advantage on all the bets.

So as you can see from this the only bets you ever want to make are those where the casino only has a slight advantage. Statistically for every £100 you bet on pass-line bets with double free odds you should only lose 60p. Therefore you only need a little bit of luck and you can very easily end a craps session as a winner.
