Pass-Line Bet

All the different bets in craps can be quite confusing but you will see that only a few of them are actually worth making as will be shown in the craps odds section. The best way to learn all the bets is to download a free craps game from the internet and practise betting and refer to this website for help whilst you are doing it. It can be very daunting going to the craps table at a casino if you have no idea what any of the bets on the betting layout mean.

Pass Line Bet

Pass-Line

To place a bet on the pass line you place your chips on the betting layout where it says "pass line". This bet is probably the most popular bet at the casino. This bet is only made before the "come out roll".

Outcomes of a pass line bet on the shooters "come out roll"

1. If the shooter throws a 7 or 11 you have won the bet and you will be paid out at evens i.e. If you bet £10 the dealer will pay you an additional £10 in winnings.

2. If the shooter throws a 2,3 or 12 you have lost the bet and the dealer will take your chips.

3. If the shooter throws a 4,5,6,8,9 or 10 a point has been established and you have not yet won or lost and your bet remains where it is.

Outcomes of a pass line bet once a point has been established.

Lets say as an example the point number is 4.

1. If the shooter throws a 4 you have won the bet and you will be paid out at evens.

2. If the shooter throws a 7 you have lost the bet and the dealer will take your chips.

3. If the shooter throws a 2,3,5,6,8,9,10,11,12 you have neither won nor lost and your bet remains where it is.

As you can on the come out roll you will want the shooter to throw a 7 or 11 but once a point has been established you will want the shooter to throw the point number and not throw a 7 in order for you to win. After a point has been established you are not allowed to remove your bet you have to leave it to see what the outcome will be after the point has been established.
