Unusual Rules

Heres some rules that are played occasionally around the world which you might come across. Some may be played at a casino all the time and some may just be as a part of a special promotion to attract players. We also state whether the deviation from standard rules has a positive or negative benefit.

Double down after splitting

Some casinos will let you double down after splitting. This means if for example your first two cards are aces you are not only able to split them and bet them as two hands but you may also double your bet on each hand also. This rule benefit's the player.

Early Surrender

Some casinos have a surrender rule where if you surrender and the dealer has blackjack you lose only half your bet the same as if the dealer did not have a blackjack. This rule benefit's the player.

Blackjack pays 2/1

Some casinos will pay out double your bet if you make a blackjack. This rule benefit's the player.

Blackjack with Ace and Jack of spades pays 2/1

Some casinos will pay out at odds of two to one on a blackjack that is made up of an Ace of spades and a Jack of spades.

1 or 2 Deck Games

Some casinos still use only 1 or 2 decks and deal the cards from their hands rather than out of a shoe. This rule benefit's the player.

Under/Over 13

Some casinos play a version where you can also bet on whether your next two cards will add to more or less than thirteen. Aces are worth one and the casino wins in the result of a tie. This side bet is good for the casino.
