If you want to win at blackjack over the long-term then by using the strategies that have been shown you should be able to swing the odds in your favour to make gains over the long term. However it is important that you manage your funds when playing, as over the short term it is still possible to lose a significant amount in a single blackjack session due to the fall of the cards. Make sure you don't lose all your funds in one go before you've had a chance to make the gains which will inevitably come in the long term due to the statistical advantage which you have.
To do this it is recommended you don't bet a significant amount of your total funds on each hand. If you have funds of £1000 to start with make your maximum bet about £20 or 2%. This may seem small but if you are betting £50 it will only take 20 losing hands to completely wipe out your funds. This may seem unlikely but you can easily end up playing several hundred hands in a particular session and even with your advantage it is still very possible to lose a considerable percentage more of your hands over the short term. As you increase your funds over time it is then possible to also increase your maximum bet. So once you have £2000 in funds increase your maximum bet to £40 per hand. By using the betting strategy explained in the card counting section the amount your funds will increase and decrease will not be so severe so you may in this instance make your maximum bet slightly more. You may get lucky so that when you first start you win significantly and your funds increase quickly but even so don't let your over exuberance with your new found knowledge risk the long term rewards by losing all your funds at the first sitting.
