When you have mastered the advanced count the
next step to becoming a truly accomplished card
counter is learning how to bet. There is a more
sophisticated way of betting so a player may take
optimum advantage of a particular situation. The
way in which this is done is by graded betting.
Graded betting is betting different amounts depending
on how much the count is in your favour at any
particular time. The premise behind this strategy
is, the more the cards are in your favour the
more you bet. Rather than betting just two different
amounts you bet several different amounts dependent
on what number the count has reached. Here is
an example if you are using a minimum bet of £5
per hand.
If the count is less than +4 bet the minimum amount,
£5 each hand.
If the count is +4 to +8 bet £20 each hand
If the count is +8 to +12 bet £40 each hand
If the count is +12 to +16 bet £60 each hand
If the count is +16 or greater bet £80 each hand.
So as you can see the better your chances of winning the more you bet therefore maximising your winnings. Also using this method will not deplete your funds so quickly when you get on a losing streak. This is one factor you have to take into consideration when card counting. Even though card counting shifts the odds in your favour it still doesn't mean you will win every time and if you are changing your bets from £5 to £50 as soon as the count reaches +4 you could very quickly be down a couple of thousand pounds if the cards aren't falling in your favour. With this method of betting you will only be betting really big money when the cards are significantly in your favour so you shouldn't lose so much money when you get on a losing streak.
