Front Loading

This is a method of finding out what the dealers hole card is by slightly dubious means. This is done quite simply by sitting down as low as possible at the table so you get a view of the dealers hole card as they place it under their up-card at the start of each hand. When a dealer picks the card out of the shoe they have to move it across the table if it is too high in the air a player seated low enough can see the card before it is put under the up-card. This will only work if the dealer is particularly bad at their job and sitting too low in your chair may raise suspicion. Another method can be used to see the dealers hole card when they are required to look at their hole card because their up card is an ace. If you are sitting in a position to one side of the table it may be possible to see what card the dealer has when they peak under it to check for a blackjack. This is usually only possible from an angle to the side of the dealers cards, so sitting in one of the end seats will give you the best chance of doing this.

Spooking

This is not a method to be recommended as it is probably illegal but it is interesting to learn to what lengths players will go to, in order to gain an edge. Quite simply a player will have an accomplice who will stand behind the table at such an angle that when the dealer checks to see if they have a blackjack they are able to see what the hole card is. With this knowledge all they do is signal to the player what the value of the card is.
